Soulpin

What happens if you take your soulpin out for
A while? If you let that center of all
That is you, the essential very core
Of you, slide out, down to the floor, to fall
Like a button come undone, or a coin
Let go between a pocket and a hand?
Would you roll off into some street and join
The yellowed cigarette butts that expand
In the black oily puddles, pointlessly
Coming apart from yourself? Would you drop
From the linch of your own middle, slowly
Falling away in bits, until you stop
Having definition – like food washed from
A plate in the sink? Would you un-become?
